TRENTON — Kyle Givens, the alleged killer of his girlfriend and mother-of-three Cassandra Mitchell, has been brought into custody.

He was captured at about 4:45 p.m. yesterday by the Passaic Police Department, according to Trenton Police Detective Lt. Stephen Varn.

Varn said Givens was being transported to Trenton last night — his bail set at $1 million on charges of murder and weapons offenses.

Police say Givens, 34, gunned down his girlfriend Mitchell, 29, in her Donnelly Homes apartment Thursday in front of her three children.

The kids — ages 2, 8 and 10 — are said to be with family, and the state Division of Youth and Family Services is set to provide counseling to the traumatized children.
